Have you checked your medicine cabinet lately? When was the lat time you checked the labels of your health and cosmetics products?

Now,go to your cabinet and check.It is better to check your health care products as early as now, you might be keeping a product of danger.

Here is the list of the most common dangerous ingredient that you might surprisingly find on your cosmetic and health care products.

1. Benzoyl Peroxide – Frequently used in products for acne solutions, knows as to be a carcinogen. It is also a possible tumor promoter. It can act as a mutagen, produces damage in the DNA in the cells of humans and other mammals when concentrated. It can be also toxic when inhaled. It may be harmful in contact with skin and if swallowed. It is also an irritant for the eyes and skin.

2. Car Tar Dyes for Color Pigments – It contain salts of heavy metals which can deposit toxins in the skin, causing irritation and skin sensitivity.Studies have shown almost all of them that are carcinogenic. They are commonly labeled as FD & C or D & C, followed by the color and the number.

3.  Formaldehyde– It is used in a variety of cosmetics. It release slowly small amounts of formaldehyde that can cause Cancer.

4. Lead – It may not necessarily cause cancer. but surely that is harmful to human beings. Exposure to lead can cause adverse effects on health, behavior problems and learning to seizures disabilities and worse, death.

5. Phthalates – Xenoestrogens are commonly found in many products, usually not listed on the labels. Health effects include damage to the liver / kidneys, birth defects, decrease in the number of sperm and the development of early breast in girls and boys.

6. Parabens – Also known as methylparaben, butylparaben and propylparaben. It is used in a variety of cosmetics as a preservative. It is suspected to be disruptive to the endocrine and can interfere with the male reproductive functions.

7.  Sodium Laureth Sulfate – It is found in some health care products such as shampoos, and bubble bath. It also can be found in household cleaning products. They may be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane, which can cause cancer.

8. Triclocsan -It is used in some antibacterial cosmetics, such as toothpaste, cleaners and deodorants. It is also considered to be disruptive to the endocrine and may contribute to the resistance to antibiotics in bacteria.

9. Polyethylene Glycol–  Also known as PEG, which is used in manufacturing of cleansers to dissolve oil and grease. Due to its effectiveness, PEG are often used in caustic spray oven cleaners.It is found in many personal care products. PEG contribute to separate the Natural moisturizing factor, leaving the immune system vulnerable. They can also be considered as carcinogenic.

10. Petrochemicals – Usually from petroleum based products derived from crude oil. Examples of it are petrolatum, mineral oil and paraffin.  It is also a form of barrier that causes the pores of the skin to clog by not allowing it to breathe.

Lead Test for your Lipsticks

1st . Put shade of your lipstick on your palm.

2nd. Rub a (24 k -14 k) gold ring on the shaded part

3rd. If it turned black, then your lipstick is positive with lead.

How to keep your Mascara Bacteria Free

Did you know the reason why you have to replace you mascara every 3 months is because it can be inhibited by a bacteria called Streptococcus, a kind of fungi that is found at our eyelashes. When we whip some mascara on our eyelashes there is a chance that the wand can get some of that bacteria and when we put it back in the container, there will be a spread of the bacteria. Although, generally, mascaras contain preservatives designed to avoid cohabitation of bacteria. But it only last for a short period of time (which is 3 months)

1st. Store your mascara on a cool and dry place

2nd. Replace your mascara every several months or so.

3rd. Do not put mascara while driving or in motion. This will lessen the chance of poking your eyes with the mascara wand that can cause scratched and might be infected cornea/s.
